I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. My weekly trips to the library as a child were a highlight and I was thrilled to compete with my older sister over who could read more in a week. I liked to imagine myself in the books I loved- pretending to be an orphan on Prince Edward Island like Anne of Green Gables (I even named my first child Anne!) or living on the prairie with Laura. I continue to read voraciously as an adult. I have been a member of a Literary Masters salon for several years and have participated in a mother-daughter book club as well.
After college at Duke University, I became a middle school Humanities teacher where I was able to share my love for books with 5th- 7th graders. Currently I work as a substitute teacher in middle school at San Francisco Friends School where I helped form a parent-child book club. A mother of 5, I have been lucky to raise a family of readers too, though I could never get my daughter to read the Anne of Green Gables books!
